Why Your Rehab Isn't Working — And What to Do About It

If you've been through physiotherapy and still can't get back to the sport or activity you love, you're not alone. The most common reason traditional rehab falls short? It targets muscle strength before addressing the real root of the problem: motor control.

When the nervous system detects faulty sensory input or perceives threat, it activates protective mechanisms that inhibit muscle activation. No amount of strength training will override that. Until the underlying motor control issues are resolved, full recovery — and peak performance — will remain out of reach.

What Is Sensorimotor Repatterning (SMR)?

SMR is a precise, neurologically-based approach that retrains the nervous system by targeting proprioceptors (the body's sensory receptors) and acupoints (Somato–Autonomic Reflexes). If you've spent months grinding through exercises to strengthen a "weak" muscle, here's the truth: that muscle is probably already strong — it just isn't receiving the right signal to fire correctly. SMR fixes the signal.

The Three-Session Framework

Session 1 — Testing 108 muscles for motor control dysfunction and restoring proper function in a lying position.

Session 2 — Reassessing and correcting motor control in a standing position.

Session 3 — Refining motor control through complex, functional movements for real-world performance.

What Clients Are Saying

"I was injured for 3 years, saw multiple physiotherapists, doctors, specialists, Chinese medicine etc. No one could tell me what was wrong, I’d explain my pain and asked what was causing it and never got any answers. Colin has truly been the only person to fix and heal my injuries and pain. It’s been a few months since I’ve last had an appointment with him and I’m no longer in pain and have started strength training for the first time in 3 years." — Lauren, S.I. instability

"After only one appointment, the pain that was keeping me up at night completely resolved... I don't fully understand what Colin does, but I know one thing: it works, and it works extremely well." — Martin, shoulder ligament injury and dislocation

"He got my recovery back on track and dealt with the lingering effects of multiple injuries from years of high-level athletics. He knows the science, he knows athletes, and he's one of the nicest health professionals you'll ever meet." — George, post hip-replacement surgery

"Colin healed my shoulder once and for all. My body moves better and faster — I've hit several personal best triathlon times since seeing him." — Heather, bike crash shoulder injury
